PayPal Scams Continue To Torment
If you have ever checked your email or surfed the Internet, there is a good chance that you have seen some of those PayPal “Update Your Account” scams. These scammers send emails to hundreds and thousands of people on a daily basis, and if you happen to fall into their trap, you lose a bunch of your hard earned money. Of course, PayPal usually covers what you lose due to fraud and scam, but you can save yourself a lot of hassle if you just ignore the fake e-mails. Here is the latest one that is going around the Internet:

| It has come to our attention that your account information needs to be updated as part of our continuing commitment to protect your account and to reduce the instance of fraud on our website. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your online experience and update your personal records you will not run into any future problems with the online service. .
However, failure to update your records until JUNE 17, 2007 your account considered as suspension. Please update your records as soon as this email being sent. Our system requires further account verification. Once you have updated your account records, your session will not be interrupted and will continue as normal. as soon as possible. Allowing your account access to remain limited for an extended period of time may result in further limitations on the use of your account and possible account closure.” I took out the URL, but it is funny that this time they didn’t even try to make it look like paypal.com. |
Whatever you do, be very careful about the links on these emails. Don’t just click on them. Check them out to see if they are really going to Paypal.com and not some unknown site. Also, PayPal always uses your username in the beginning of the e-mail, so that give it away as well.
