Apple managed to give us all fans something to cheer about with their highly successful iPhone mobile phone/iPod. But many were turned off by the two-year AT&T contract and iPhone’s high price tag ($499/599). While iPhone was not technically a pure portable music player, it opened our eyes to the possibilities awaiting the iPod product line. It seems now that Apple is ready to unveil a few of those possibilities with the brand new generation of iPod. iPod is highly likely to borrow the touchscreen feature from iPhone. In addition, I expect iPod to have Wi-Fi functionality, similar to that offered by Zune. The price should also be more affordable as iPod does not need a cell phone plan. But don’t expect to get this for $200 right off the bat. But you may be able to sell your iPods now that you have a chance before the new generation is out. eBay does have their “free listing fees week,” so get ready to part with your good old iPod.
