The Most Expensive Laptop Ever?

A few days ago, I was just thinking what would the most expensive laptop in the world. It seems our friends at Business 2.0 (We are going to miss the magazine, thanks for the memories!) have found a 7 figure laptop. Sure, it’s a luxury laptop with all the bells and whistles that you would expect from a luxury item, but a cool $1 mil? Now that got to be even steep for Billy Gates. So here is our million dollar winner:

Luvaglio laptop

This laptop has a 17 inch monitor and most notably a Blu Ray player, but most importantly, a whole lot of diamond is used on this laptop, including on certain buttons. such as the start button. If you are looking for a 64-core laptop and 640 Gigs of Ram and a LightScribe Blu-Ray DL Writer, this is not your laptop. But if you are born a billionaire and have a special someone in your life who is into expensive gadgets, this is certainly one way to go. Of course, you could always buy her a ticket to moon!

Ahmadinejad In Full Denial Mode

Who has said that Holocaust has happened? Why do people pretend to be gays? Why are we even claiming that a country such as Israel exists?  According to Mr. Ahmadinejad, none of these facts happened. If you weren’t wasting your time with Dancing with the stars and silly shows such as Heroes yesterday, you would know that Mr. Ahmadinejad had a chance to enlighten the ill-informed student @ Columbia by making all convert to his way of life. Of course in order to make his arguments sound somewhat reasonable, Mahmoud stopped just short of denying the fact that the sun sets everyday. Other than that, Mr. Ahmadinejad was in full denial mode. OK. Maybe Ahmadinejad did not manage to put up a convincing argument yesterday, but he did manage to remind us why a large portion of our nation hates politicians. They lie, they cheat, and sometime they steal to get their way. Mr. Ahmadinejad is in essence the anti-bush. Bush claims things that have not happened. Ahmadinejad denies things that did happen. Bush claims that Iraq war was a success, that we have won it multiple times, and that terrorism is dying down. Ahmadinejad claims that they don’t have gays in Iran, A-Bomb is not useful to them, and Holocaust never happened. Now you be the judge! Isn’t there an odd similarity between the way these guys go around making their arguments?

What Can You Expect From the New Mac OS?

Mac OS 10.5 is finally coming out in a couple of weeks, and one has to wonder whether Apple can get anything wrong with their marketing campaign for this cool looking piece of software.  With all the huff and puff that we had with Windows Vista and Microsoft’s whole “WOW Yourself” campaign, Apple’s Mac OS looks to be a much better marketed product with much less effort, it seems. The problem with Windows Vista was that people were forced by Microsoft to buy into it. “You need to update because it has less security holes in its code.” Fair enough! Everybody says that. But Vista has had numerous software and hardware compatibility issues, and Microsoft is not fast enough to fix all these little issues. Apple on the other hand has often had the better “looking” product, but less customers. But Apple uses its portfolio of products such as iPod, iPhone, Apple TV, and … to push its OS, and now people are starting to realize that they don’t necessarily have to deal with the pains involved with using Windows Vista. It sure does help that Apple computers are now intel-based, allowing Windows fanatics to install their favorite sofware on their Macs. With the way Microsoft is playing catch up in multiple fronts, it is not out of the realm of possibility to see Mac OS take the lead in the consumer OS market. There is one hurdle left remaining, however: The high price of Macs, and the inability of users to put Mac OS on non-mac PCs.

Apple iPod Touch Coming To Stores

Apple iPod Touch is coming to stores such as Amazon, and Apple Store in only 9 days. This is certainly exciting news for people who had to wait for iPhone to become cheaper just so that they could buy and use it as a fancy iPod. I even heard stories about a select few who sacrificed $200 over the original price of their iPhones to get out of their at&t contracts so they could use their iPhone with other services and as an iPod. I wonder how those people feel now that they can get an iPhone for only $399 and iPods for only $299. Apple iPod is certainly a unique product as people will keep buying it even if they have the last generation of it sitting around somewhere around the house. People are willing to part with hard-earned money to have the top gadget of the month or rather year regardless of what it can actually do and how expensive it is. Simply astonishing!

Resident Evil 3: The Extinction Is Finally Here!

Resident Evil games are up there with the most memorable games of all time on any platfrom, be it PS1, GameCube, or soon to join X-Box 360. The movies however have been anything but exciting so far. The first two movies were barely B- movies, and they did not do justice to the reputation of their counterparts in the gaming world. Now, the 3rd edition, and what seems to be the last chapter in the Resident Evil franchise is upon us (catch Resident Evil Extinction trailer here). This movie seems to be about a time where mankind is facing extinction due to the T-virus that was released by Umbrella corporation in a small raccoon city. Having failed to contain the virus, Umbrella has an upgraded Jill to face the fight for the future of mankind. To be honest, the trailer does not say much more than that about the movie, and the movie looks decent on the paper. I doubt it will be an A-level movie and I doubt it will ever be anything close to what the games are in the gaming community. But, it will be a good start to a hectic fall season in the movie industry.

Amazon Rolls out WebStore Service

Amazon.com is famous for taking advantage of every opportunity to increase their sales, and they don’t shy away from getting their customers involved to achieve their goal. Amazon.com’s aStore was an innovative service for affiliate marketers to promote Amazon products and get paid in the process. But I guess Amazon wants to approach its existing customers with a different angle by offering its WebStore Service to them for 30 days free of charge. An ongoing fee will be incurred by those who decide to stay with Amazon Webstore service. With WebStore you get your own branded eCommerce site backed by the support, selection and expertise of Amazon to power your online business. That’s the good news. The bad news is that many people feel that they can sell millions of items if they have the capability and the website to do so. However, once they get their own site, they have no clue how to generate sales, and this could be a break dealer for most of them. Obviously the 30 days free of charge trial would give them some time to try the system out, but if I were Amazon, I would give users 60 days for free to let the cream of the crop come to the top. Either way, this is a very interesting feature by always innovative Amazon.

Bush: Surge Is Working!

George W. Bush put an Oscar worthy performance last night when he declared with a straight face that the surge in Iraq is working. Deep down in his heart he knows his Iraq project is destined for failure, and to be honest there is nothing he or any democrat can do to save America’s graces in that region of the world. Perhaps the best decision is to put more pressure on Iraq by withdrawing troops, not all of them though as Mr. Edwards stated in his message to the American people. I remember when I came to America, this was the land of opportunity and prosperity. It seems those days are long gone as the nation is struggling on multiple fronts. Health care, Education, and lack of innovation are just some of many problems that the U.S. will have to face in the upcoming decades. It’s truly saddening that instead of dealing with real issues, America has made itself sandwiched in a civil war.

iPhone Early Adoptors Burned By Apple?

Remember a couple months ago when people were sleeping on the streets, awaiting the arrival of the revolutionary iPhone? Those days seem like a distant memory now. People were willing to cough up $599 and over $1000 on at&t contracts to get their hands on an iPhone. Now, a couple of months later, apple is discontinuing the 4 GB iPhone line, and cutting the price of 8GB iPhones by $200. While that is a good piece of news for those of us who could resist the charm of the iPhone in its early days, it has angered the early adopters. They feel they have been ripped off by Apple, and obviously they have to put up with “sucker” jokes from colleagues and friends (they are suckers, arent’ they?). Apple now is offering a $100 coupon to these guys to go and spent on Apple store. Many have told me that they will be using that to get Apple Mac OS Leopard when it comes out.

Still, one has to wonder whether what Apple has done is the right thing. By cutting the price of iPhones so soon Apple has shot itself in the foot. It has discouraged its early adopters from buying new apple technologies in early stages. In addition, Apple has to deal with its disgruntled loyal fans, and I doubt the $100 coupon will satisfy these people. Either way, it is hard to fall for a cool gadget such as iPhone right away. Those who did resist iPhone 2 months ago can now get it for cheap or better yet, they could pick up the new Wi-Fi iPod!

Annoying WordPress Spam

If you have ever had the opportunity to run a wordpress website, you would know that spammers take advantage of every opportunity to post something to your precious wordpress site. Take this site for instance. Every single day people find a way to get around the spam block plug-ins that I have put in place here. People who seem to have to all the time in the world post messages such as: Hi, Cool Site, [their URL] to my comment section, and for some reason some of these bogus messages escape my spam blocker. The World Wide Web is full of good and bad sites. But what it has more of is people who do anything and everything to push their own agenda. Thank goodness for the delete button!
