If you are a SunRocket customer, and you still haven’t decided what to do, you have a couple of options. You can either sign up for another voice over IP company or go with one of those bundle deals from Comcast, Verizon, or better yet EarthLink. If you still prefer to sign up for a voice-over-ip company, here are your options:
1. Vonage: Vonage is the No. 1 pure Voice over IP provider in the nation. However, it seems it is close to bankruptcy after legal troubles with Verizon.
2. Teleblend: A SunRocket Wanna’be that you definitely shouldn’t trust. They just started a couple of weeks ago.
3. Packet 8: Packet 8 is a respectable voice/video over IP company. It’s prices are close to what SunRocket used to offer, but your existing gizmo is not compatible with this service.
4. ViaTalk: ViaTalk VoIP Phone service is the only VoIP service that its offer comes close to that of SunRocket. ViaTalk gives you two phone lines + a bunch of other features for $199 a year. While they are not as big as SunRocket was, they have been in business for a while. They are associated with HostRocket Inc, which does help a little.
5. VoIP.com: VoIP.com is another VoIP company that you may want to consider now that SunRocket has set. VoIP.com has similar plans to abov providers, but they give you unlimited calls for $19.99 a month whereas Vonage gives you that for $24. They also have received good reviews from numerous sources, so you may want to give these guys a shot.

Skype is an option that many people discount for some reason. With Skype you can choose to get incoming or outgoing call services (SkypeIn and SkypeOut). SkypeIn is a virtual phone number, and you can have as many as 10 of these in different states if you want. You can receive calls when you are connected to the Internet and your Skype client is on. For $18 a month or $60 a year, that is not a bad deal. Also, you can get SkypeOut which would allow you to call people using your Skype. That is going for only $29.95 a month, making your total about $90 a year for a complete Internet phone service.
You can also get a Skype Phone for your Skype service, making your Skype service identical to that you would get from a VoIP service provider.
Your other option would be going with a “landline” phone service provider such as Verizon. They also have a Broadband phone service, but at $42+ a month, that is a high price to pay for a phone service. Also, you can sign up for one of the triple play/double play bundles from Comcast or EarthLink. Comcast gives you Internet, Digital TV, and VoIP home phone service for $99 a month for year. EarthLink’s double play (Internet + Phone) service start from $49.95, but you can get more speed for higher prices. The Triple/Double Play option is probably reasonable if you have a need for cable TV or if you haven’t upgraded your dial up Internet service yet.
One final way you can save yourself from the agony that SunRocket has brought us customers is to go with a cellular plan. You may want to beef up your cellular plan to make sure you have enough minutes to handle incoming and outgoing calls. I personally like to have a separate home phone and mobile phone service. So, I would not recommend this option to everyone.
SunRocket is going to discontinue on August 5th, 2007. They have taken their customers money, and who knows if the money lost can be gained back through litigation or other means. The bottom line is, SunRocket truly deserves the title of Jerk Company Of the Year!

I think Lingo provides best VoIP services. Lingo offers best transition opportunities to SunRocket customers. Their calling plans have numerous added features such as voicemail, call forwarding, call waiting, redial, 911, 411, and local number portability. Moreover, they have the ability to receive voicemails as attachments to email.
Please make your decision to move to a new service provider like Lingo.
Please tell people who cannot receive calls on Sun Rocket to unplug the gizmo for at least 15 minutes. No Less. This Will reset the IP address of the box in the system and they should be fine. This worked for me.
Now that didn’t work for me. My Phone is dead dude!
My main SR number finally was cut off on 8/10/07, but is porting to VOIP.com which I’m using with a temp number. good clear, service. Second line from SR I switch to monthly with TeleBlend (all the SR features even voice mail!!) but it works fine so will use them for now…
