End Of An Era: Kobe Wants to be Traded

According to reliable sources, Kobe has asked Lakers to trade him. This is an astonishing turnaround from earlier this week, when Kobe claimed that he wanted to retire as a Laker. Maybe, Kobe has realized that Kwame is no Shaq and Lamar is no Scotty. So, where is he headed?

What’s Next for Chuck Liddell?

Liddell lost again to Jackson at UFC 71. So what’s next for the face of the UFC? I do believe that he should get a rematch with Jackson, but if he loses again, he should retire. Even if he wins, retirement is a very tempting option as Liddell is not getting any younger and one of these days someone else will drop him on his back like Jackson did. He sure doesn’t need the money, so why damage his legacy by sticking around?

Roland Garos, French Open 2007 Preview

Just like last year, this year seems to be a 1.5 horse race for the title. Why not a complete 2 horse race? Nadal is a huge favorite to win the tournament, and he will probably not be tested till the final itself. However, on the other side, we have a resurgent Roger Federer who has just ended Nadal’s streak on clay. But Roger has shown that he can lose to Canas and Volandris of this world too. So Roger will have a difficult time to make it to the final. Once he gets there, he really doesn’t have much of a chance. Sure he has beaten Nadal in 3 sets at Hamburg, but he has yet to beat Nadal in a best of 5 sets match on clay. Nadal rarely loses two sets on clay, and almost never loses 3 sets on clay. Roger took a set a bunch of times but nothing more than that, and I am afraid if Nadal gets to the final easily, Roger will suffer the same fate as last year.

Predictions:

Roger Federer vs. Volandi (!)

Davydenko vs. Canas

Djokovic vs. Andreev

Berdych vs. Nadal

CNBC Claims June 20th To Be Iphone’s release date

CNBC and other sources are claiming that iPhone will be coming out on June 20th. iPhone is perhaps the most anticipated mobile device in years, and AT&T has exclusive service rights to it for now. It is amazing that for a product that will cost close to a $1000 to own (including the service plan for a year), nobody is talking about its high price. Everybody is claiming how good iPhone is, but I wonder how many of us actually afford such a device. Not that it matters.

Yahoo! Sports and Eurosport Unite!

For those of you who may have checked Eurosport.com already, you know that Yahoo Sports and Eurosport are one now. Personally, I think this is a good move as these two services are rather complementary. This could rival ESPN’s and Sports Illustrated’s sites. Here for the news.

GPS Buying Guide: 5 Things you Shouldn’t Forget When Buying a GPS

GPS is one of the best things that has happened to me, literally. Before buying my Cobra Nav One GPS, I used to get lost a lot in the city. I have never been a fan of putting markings on a paper map just to find the correct route and everything. Of course, there is this idea of digital paper maps:

Many tell me that GPS is for “amateur” drivers. I don’t agree with that. The way I look at it is outsourcing your whole location finding process to a GPS device. In any case, when buying a GPS, you may want to check for the following before making your decision:

1. Reputation: You want to make sure that you are buying from some company that has had at least a decent product in the past. Garmin, TomTom, and Cobra all have great products, so you can’t go wrong if you choose one of these.

2. Text-to-Voice (Message) Feature: I don’t care what great feature your GPS has as long as it has text to voice. Believe me, it is very dangerous to take your eyes of the road just to check the name of the street you have to turn to, so you want to make sure that your device pronounces the street names.

3. Size: Size does matter and you want to make sure your GPS is at least 4 inches. I have seen all those 3.5 inches GPS’s but the fact of the matter is unless you put them on your wheel, you can’t see them. Of course, that depends on your eyesight, but that is bound to go as you age!

4. Internal Battery: Internal battery is important if you want a portable GPS or if you need your lighter jack for another device, then this is a must.

5. Price: There are GPS’s which cost you more than a $1000 but offer you similar features than their cheaper counterparts. Don’t fall for obscure features.

Toyota Prius: 100 MPG Hybrid Potential?

Toyota Prius is one of the most popular cars around the world. Toyota Prius 2007 gets up to 51/60 MPG, which is pretty good considering the high cost of Gas. Best o all, you can get all the technology features that you desire such as BlueTooth and GPS with this car. But, Toyota is claiming that the 2009 Priuses will achieve up to 100 MPG. That is crazy if you think about it. With a 13 Gallon capacity, you can go up to 1300 miles for a single trip to a Gas station. Also, it seems Toyota Prius 2009 allows electric charge, which will actually save you that trip that you have to make once in a month. Way to go Toyota.
