Are You Flexed Yet?

If you are anything like me, you get tired of reading books after some time. I have so many books and read so many of them that it gets tiring. I think I mentioned the books that are coming up in Amazon in a couple of months. Now, here is a better deal. Flex 2.0 Training Videos are available on Amazon. Lynda Videos are usually very good as they are from a reputable training company. The price is reasonable too, and you get free shipping. Check it out! Also, they have ActionScript 3.0 video as well, and they are running out of stock. Check it out here.

Not to be biased and all, as I have been a customer for 2 years, but these guys offer the best collection of features on the net. The main thing, however, about this company is that they are still in the growth stage. As a result, they can’t afford to offer anything but their best service to their existing and new customers. I think that’s why they are offering what they are offering for these low prices.

ActionScript 3.0 Cookbook: Out Tomorrow!

The book that everyone has been waiting for is finally coming out tomorrow. Arguably the first book that discusses Flex 2.0 and AC 3.0 is out, and like any other O’reilly book, it promises to be a hit. Rather than focus on theory, the ActionScript 3.0 Cookbook concentrates on the practical application of ActionScript, with more than 300 solutions you can use to solve a wide range of common coding dilemmas. You’ll find recipes that show you how to:

  • Detect the user’s Flash Player version or their operating system
  • Build custom classes
  • Format dates and currency types
  • Work with strings
  • Build user interface components
  • Work with audio and video
  • Make remote procedure calls using Flash Remoting and web services
  • Load, send, and search XML data
  • And much, much more …

Check Programming Flex 2 out while you are at it. You got to wait a bit for that book.

Thailand Open: Blake Beats Safin Again, Ljubicic Cruises

Ivan Ljubicic and James Blake will settle their differences tomorrow in the final of Bangkok Open. James Blake survived an scare against Marat Safin before beating him in 3 sets, tie-break in the third. Ivan Ljubicic, however, had a routine straight set victory that setup a mouth-watering clash with Ivan Ljubicic. On the paper, Ivan Ljubicic is the firm favorite to win the title tomorrow as he has beaten Blake every time the two have met in the past. James, however, has been hot in form lately, even pushing Roger Federer almost to a 5th set at the U.S. Open. Here is hoping Blake will win as he needs the points more that Ljubicic to qualify for the Masters Cup.

Unpublished Book Tops Amazon Charts!

It is an amazing feat for an unpublished book to top Amazon’s charts. Even the book that Chavez recommended could not achieve this mission, and that book was published and circulated among people for 2 years. Never the less, the State of Denial by Bob Woodward has just done that. The book was supposed to come out on September 30th, but it has been postponed by a couple of days to October 2nd. Get it now while you can!

Thailand Open: James Blake To Face Marat Safin

James Blake beat the Jarko “Cool” Nieminen to get another shot at Marat Safin in 2006. Marat won the first meeting between the two, but Blake was able to beat Marat on Clay in Davis Cup last week. It is certainly going to be an intriguing tie, which, if past is for any indication, most likely will have at least 1 tie-break. James Blake will move to the 7th Position on the ATP Race. The top 8 players on the ATP Race list will qualify for the year ending championship, Masters Cup.
