Netscape Co-Founder recently made a staggering prediction. He predicted that PHP will eventually replace Java at the top of the Web-Development world. He mentioned PHP’s simplicity for this unbelievable prediction. PHP is an open source environment that can build its own scripts and also contains a large repository of ready-made scripts. PHP is in use by roughly 22 million Web sites and counting today, and changes to the software are in the hands of around 450 programmers. But What Mr. Andreessen do not take into account is that Java services at least twice as many websites, and it is far more popular than PHP. Java programmers such as yours truly are addicted to Java, and we will not drop Java anytime soon for what we think of as an inferior scripting language. The fact of the matter is that Java is used for more dynamic e-commerce solutions. Java also has spread its roots into various different fields such as the mobile world. Java is the language of an integrated programming environment, so it is sensible for programmers to invest their time on Java rather than to try to learn 100 different languages for different purposes.. The irony is that while PHP will be around for a long time, it will have the same fate as Netscape Explorer. Someone would expect Netscape co-founder to know better!
Java vs. PHP?
